PROSPECTUS

I.   Profile of the College

1.  Silver Jubilee Government College (Autonomous), Kurnool was established in October 1972 to cater to the needs of meritorious students in the state of A.P and it was accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC in 2006 and recognized by UGC as College with Potential for Excellence.

2.  Silver Jubilee Government College (Autonomous), Kurnool is under the jurisdiction of     S. K. University, Anantapur.

3.  The Institution has Jawahar Knowledge Centre which imparts employable skills to the students and assists them in the Campus Placement.145 students got jobs through Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC), in the international organizations like Infosys, ICICI and Cipla and other MNCs.

II. Distribution of Seats:

            The seats available in the college are distributed in the ratio of 42:36:22 to the areas of erstwhile Andhra University, erstwhile Osmania University and erstwhile Sri Venkateswara University respectively as noted below:

1.  The Districts of Erstwhile Andhra University area are:

2.  The Districts Erstwhile Osmania University area are:

3.  The Districts Erstwhile Sri Venkateswara University area are:

III.  Definition of Local Candidates:

         A candidate for admission into this college shall be regarded as local candidate in relation to a local area (Erstwhile University area) as defined by the relevant Government Order.

IV.   Hostel Fee:

1) Every student admitted shall reside in the Hostel attached to the college

2) He will be sanctioned Rs. 20/- per day by Government of A.P towards diet charges.

3) Hostel Maintenance charges :

   Total consumption charges (electricity, water charges, wages to hostel workers etc.) will  be equally distributed to the number of inmates in the hostel which may come to           Rs.2200/- per head for Ist year; Rs. 2400/- for IInd year; Rs. 2600/- for final year.        Rs.2200/- will be required to be paid at the time of admission.  However, if any excess is required it will be collected from the inmates.

4) The hostel mess will be run either a contractor appointed by the hostel advisory committee through out sourcing or as it was run in previous years.

5)  Hostel Caution Deposit is Rs. 100/-

V.    General Rules of Admission:

1.  Admissions are ONLY FOR MEN.

2.  Admissions will be made on the basis of marks obtained in SET-2014.

3. A minimum of 64/160 marks on aggregate in the Entrance Test is required for admission. The cut off marks may be relaxed if situation demands in certain courses.

4.  Students admitted have to follow the rules and regulations of the college sincerely and strictly.

5.   The college works for 6 hours a day and for 220 days a year.

6.   90% of attendance is compulsory.

7.  All the students admitted should join either in NCC or NSS unless they are declared physically challenged.

8.   Attendance for the classes of Physical Education, NCC and NSS is compulsory.

9.   For the students who discontinue the studies, the expenditure spent on him till then in the college and hostel shall be recovered from him immediately.

10. However the administration reserves the right of changing the rules to be followed as per the directions of the Government and University from time to time.

VI.    Scheme, Pattern and Syllabus for the SET-2014:

A) Scheme:-

(i) The test will be in one session of 2.30 hrs (150 minutes) comprises 4 subjects with 160 multiple choice questions
                        
(ii) The division of marks is as follows:

                  English (40 questions)…….......................   =     40 Marks
                  Three Group subjects – 40 questions x 3 … =   120 Marks
                                                                                     -----------------
                                                                     Total   =   160 Marks
                                                                                     -----------------

B) Pattern: The student who seeks admission into B.A/B.Com./B. Sc., has to answer multiple choice questions of FOUR subjects as shown below:

B.A. (Arts Stream)    -    

      1) English 2) Economics 3) History 4) Civics.

B.Com.  (Commerce Stream)      -    

      1) English 2) Economics 3) Commerce-I Elements of Commerce) 4) Commerce-II (Book-Keeping & A/c)

B.Sc. –(Mathematical Sciences Stream)

      1) English  2)Mathematics 3)Physics 4) Chemistry

B.Sc.  –(Biological Sciences Stream)

C) Syllabus:

English : The Question paper of English contains 40 multiple choice questions    General English & Grammar as per Intermediate Course or its equivalent.
 
Group Subjects:  The new syllabus that is prescribed for the Intermediate Examination
conducted by the Board of  Intermediate Education, A.P. Hyderabad or its equivalent.

Note:-

The college wishes to propose Medical Insurance Scheme to all the students who are going to admit for the academic year 2010-11.

If the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, A. P., Hyderabad permits the proposal the student whose parent is having:

               i)  White Ration card, has to pay Rs. 600/- approximately.

              ii)    Pink Ration card, has to pay Rs. 700/- approximately.

In addition to the above college fee, which covers the insurance for 3 years of his stay The above medical insurance premium may vary depending on the number of students
